On October 15 of this year, Stevens Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Roger Power released his first, self-produced strength training workout DVD/video geared towards everyone interested in effective weight-lifting routines. His new DVD/video, "Lift to Stay Fit," is intended for the regular workout enthusiast who has never sought instruction from a certified trainer and is interested in perfecting their lifting technique and learning new exercises. Also, for the beginner, "Lift to Stay Fit" makes an excellent teaching tool. Now all individuals at any age can learn correct dumbbell and barbell movements that can be performed in a fitness center or home gym.
Power has been a certified personal trainer since 1994 and "Lift to Stay Fit" is his first full production. Power aimed at creating "a seamless, guided experience" with the viewer "watching [him] perform and teach the movements." The video can be used by physical education teachers, personal trainers or everyday fitness enthusiasts. The instruction is not intended to be critical of someone's current form, as may be the case when individuals workout with friends or with a personal trainer. This DVD looks to highlight proper form and focus on the positive benefits of proper lifting. Power has always taught the importance of focusing on safety through effective lifting technique. "Not only can one help reduce the chance of injury, but you can get faster and lasting results!"
The exercises presented in the three routines are not gender or age specific. Power demonstrates with perfect form the exercise movement with a voice-over explaining the key components of the lift. Power has organized the routines into three distinct workouts, but the DVD also allows the viewer to choose a specific exercise to watch alone using a menu clip. The video can be used simultaneously during a workout or can be viewed anytime as an overview and highlight the correct lifting movements. In the DVD, Power has provided a workout plan to be followed in conjunction with his instruction. The program included in the DVD is a three day per week total body program, it is divided into three week blocks of training for a total of nine weeks, progressing in volume and intensity.
