To children all across America, Halloween means getting dressed up as their favorite movie character or superhero and gorging themselves with enough sugary treats to send a yak into a diabetic coma. At Stevens Institute of Technology, not much is different.

In order to celebrate the holiday, students converged underneath an enormous tent on Humphreys Lawn on Friday, October 30 for ESC's annual Fright Night. Students were not required to dress up for the event, but that did not stop many from attending the event in the most creative costume they could find. Guests attended in a variety of costumes ranging from an undead President Kennedy to the entire cast of "Team Fortress 2."

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the costume contest which took place at 10 p.m. Hosted by Justin Eusebio, the contest drew out some of the funniest and more "interesting" costumes of the night. Guests were allowed to enter in the categories of best male costume, best female costume, best couples costume, best cultural costume, and best group costume.

Both Vince Offer and Billy Mays costumes entered the male costume contest, with Billy Mays selling his invention, "Lawyer-Off" to Hal Raveche to "keep those pesky lawyers off [his] back." A Facebook page, Freddie Mercury, the Naked Cowboy, Rorschach and Pacman were also amongst those who entered. However, it was Banana Man that ended up claiming the PSP prize for best male costume at the end of the night. Harley Quinn, Pocahontas, Ms. Pac Man and Lady Gaga all made appearances in the female costume event, but it was Anne Dutreil's "It's all about the curves" costume that won her an iPod Touch.

The cultural contest drew out the most laughs at some of the most raunchy costumes of the night. Costumes included Jesus being escorted by two Roman soldiers, a Jewish boy, the captain of the Indian cricket team, Bono, the Chinese gymnastics team and Professor Zhao, who won the $100 gift certificate to Spice.
