Wow, what a month. It was only just now that I stopped and reflected on the past month or so here at Stevens. And what a month it has been. The entire Stevens community has contributed to this historic month on campus
There were three huge conferences held on campus. The Chi Epsilon conference, the ASCE Steel Bridge Competition and the Castle Point Anime Convention were all held on campus. All three were planned largely by students. All three have spread the name of Stevens Institute of Technology far and wide. This feat alone is incredible, just in terms of the involvement of other schools, other students, other anime fans all coming here to participate in incredibly well-executed events.
Then there was Boken. This Boken was the best in recent memory, hands down. The amount of people who not only came to the events, but were involved in the events, was just astounding. Every event was of high quality; every event was talked about. As one student so aptly put it in a survey submitted to the Entertainment Committee about Boken, "I actually knew that it was going on and there were events that I was able to and wanted to attend."
This is in addition to the many other student events that were happening. The Unity show was bigger and better than ever this year. Greek Week seems to have been returned, again, it's the kind of thing where everyone at least knows it is happening, a success in itself. Castle Point King was a success, as always. It was Stevens Arts Month as well, yet another major set of extremely high quality events for everyone to enjoy. The Stevens Dramatic Society once again put on an incredible production, The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
Stevens was reaccredited by the Middle States Board of Accreditation this month. It took a tremendous amount of effort by so many to reconfirm Stevens' positive status and assure the world that we are a top tier Institute.
This past week alone has been a real source of pride. The Accepted Students Reception had more families attend, and more student organizations out at the activities fair, than ever. Senior Design Day always impresses with the ability and intellect of all of the students that attend this Institute. There was even a campus emergency, during which the entire community rallied together like never before.
What a month indeed.
On top of this, it seems like every student is allergic to their dorm room. The amount of people out on the lawns grows every day. It may indeed be due to the nice weather, but I think it's something more. There are by far more people engaged and active than during any other time in my four years at this Institute.
With all of these great things happening on campus, how can you not be proud to be a part of this community? How can you not at least feel a little excited about where you are?
Stevens, and student life especially, is thriving. Have you joined in yet?
